Will Huckabee Be The Next Ross Perot/Ralph Nader?

It's said that Ross Perot divided the Republican party in '92 and cost Bush Sr. re-election. Then in '00 it's said that Ralph Nader divided the Democratic party and cost Al Gore the election.

In '08 it appears that the 2 primary candidates U.S. citizens will have to choose from in November are Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton.

Obama is getting whooped by Hillary and is almost guaranteed not to make a come back. Edwards is being beat in the polls by Gore (who is not even running). Thompson should have never entered the race b/c he's being torn apart in the Republican debates. McCain is considered the least conservative Republican running. Romney is being slammed b/c he's a Mormon. And, Huckabee is an unknown for the most part.

Huckabee appears to be the candidate though that Conservative Christian (CCs) voters (that are responsible for electing Bush in '00 and '04) like the most. But those voters are in a pickle. They like Giuliani b/c he's conservative, tough on terror, is for lowering taxes, tough on the border, and has proven himself as mayor of NY in its toughest time and its rebuilding efforts afterwards. Giuliani has a down-side though that Conservative Christians are well aware of. He's been divorced multiple times and is pro-abortion, two things CCs take very seriously.

How do CCs view Hillary Clinton though? She's weak on terror, weak on the border, for bigger government, for higher taxes, unproven in NY as their senator, pro abortion, and pro universal health care. It's obvious CCs don't want her in the white house.

So CCs have to answer a tough question...

Should Conservative Christians use their vote for someone they think should be President (Hucakbee), even though he doesn't have a chance of winning, at the risk of not voting for the only person (Giuliani) that might keep the most unappealing person (Clinton) out of the office?

You bring up an interesting point on the choice of voting for a true conservative vs voting for a candidate that will more appeal to the general masses. I personally have not heard anyone call Giuliani a conservative person at least on moral ethics. As a matter of fact, I think many people could consider McCain more morally conservative than Giuliani. Either way, I see this as an important decision that has been ignored for many year. I believe that we have an epidemic in our country right now because Christians have not been willing to step forward and support their values. From my view point, Huckabee and Thompson represent Christian values the best. I agree with you that Thompson has failed to impress people and therefore has little chance at getting the presidential nominee. However, most if not all of the responses about Huckabee has been positive. Many comments have been made the he may be the dark horse candidate that is needed to allow the republicans to win. Even Bill Clinton made a commented that Huckabee is someone that must be watched in this election. So the question of whether Huckabee could win the Presidency is not as simple at the liberal media would like to make it. For example, Huckabee leads Giuliani in polls in Iowa where he has spent his limited funds. As Huckabee continues to excel in the debates, raise the much need funds to run a successful campaign, and begins to finally get some recognition that your graph poll left out, I think he will be one of the front runners in the race. Remember this change is from a position that most people said that they did not even know him less that 6 months ago. He is a valid candidate and is potentially the next President. I think the next president depends more on whether Christians stand up for their values or sit at home and complain that they have to send their kids to private school because politics is so bad. I can not at this point jeopardize my Christian values in order to support a candidate that does not support my beliefs and ethical values. Below is a link to a video that might be interesting to people that are still getting to know Huckabee.

well aren't we growing up, talking about politics.
i dont really have any input yet because i havent started following anything on the presidential election. let me know when they talk about improving education, holding back oil companies on their record gasoline profits, and getting a better hold on how welfare should work for those who do not want to help themselves.

I am curious if you have changed your opinion. National polls are showing that Huckabee is passing Giuliani. He is DEFINITELY and potential candidate!

that's not exactly true. he's in the lead one state's primary, not the national lead.

Excuse me, let me clarify. He has passed Giuliani and some states and on the national poll he is in second place and catching fast!!! Below are the results from http://www.presidentpolls2008.com/
