I think that if we truly lived out the love of Christ and followed His words then we would not need gimmicks to reach people. But what do I know?

Our duty as servants of the Most High is to carry a Christ-centered, God-glorifying gospel, to people as the Holy Spirit leads. The word of God says that the Lamb's Book of Life was written before the foundation of the world and that if your name is not in it... you will not be saved. Trying to convince people about God is not our responsibility, our job is to present it to them and it's the Holy Spirit's job to save them. Like Brother Rod always said, "The results are not up to us." When we begin thinking that what we do saves or doesn't save people then we have taken the Holy Spirit out of the equation and have chosen to bear that burden ourselves. That is not salvation by grace, so that no man can boast, that's denying Jesus' sacrifice and is coersion so that we CAN boast. And that my friends is extremely dangerous territory. Territory in which everything rises and falls with us and not God. That is blasphemy and for those responsible, they will give an account to the Father. In America, I wonder, do we worship "the lost" or God who builds His own kingdom.

This whole idea will usher in humanism and the Lord will have no part in it.

To specifically address, "shot glasses", I question why we feel the need to hand out church paraphernalia and not the gospel. If the Lord trusts us with opportunities to share our most prized treasure, namely Himself, then why would we give them a shot glass with a church logo and not the message of the redeeming work of Jesus who can resurrect their dying, miserable, perverted, bound up, crippled minds and hearts. It's Jesus who grants life to dead people, not church propaganda.

The fact that this church has grown by 700 in two years, makes me wonder exactly what kind of teaching they are sitting under.

God's purpose always stands. To God be the glory!!
